After you get in a crash, the temptation always would be to photograph anything and everything. And I think the way the scenario goes is like this. You kind of have to assess the every situation differently. But, you know, here, if you have significant property damage, you want to get pictures of your vehicle. If there’s property damage to the vehicle that struck you, you want to get pictures of their vehicle. Um, as many photographs as you can get before anybody has even moved, the better.

Sometimes if police show up, they’re going to almost force you to move or you’re going to feel like you need to maybe for safety sake. But the more photographs and more information you can take right away so that you have it before anybody has moved to better show here. skid marks to show positions of vehicles, maybe to show fluid on the ground. You want to try to get as much information as you can that’s going to depict exactly what happened and where it happened so that you can establish
00:01:07
that you’re not at fault. Um, if you have traffic controls, you’re going to want to look at that. nowadays, you know, that lots of people think there’s cameras at every intersection and when you look around, you might even see a camera at an intersection. Doesn’t mean it’s always functional. So, I think the other message is not only do you have to be a good advocate for yourself and be vigilant about getting photographs. Don’t always assume just because you think there’s a camera there that it
00:01:34
caught it because you might assume that and then not take photographs and it could be um that in fact what you thought was photographed or videotaped isn’t. The other thing that that I think is important nowadays, in fact, I just had this situation this morning, is when you get hit, if you’re in a neighborhood, right, you might want to look around, see who has a Ring camera or something like that because I just had somebody send one this morning and without that Ring camera, it might have been very
00:02:02
difficult to discern who was at fault because the Ring camera was there. It caught it all on videotape. So, you know, you want to get as many photos as you can as quickly as you can and before anybody moves. And if they do, then you just try to be as wise as you can to get information, collect it, and try to just have have the evidence so that you can establish that you’re not the at fault party before somebody else may try not to be truthful.
