Minnesota’s No-Fault System And Motorcyclists

This is where things get complicated for riders. Minnesota’s no-fault auto insurance law under Minnesota Statutes Chapter 65B does not automatically extend Personal Injury Protection benefits to motorcycle accident victims the same way it does for car accident victims. Motorcycles are specifically excluded from the no-fault PIP requirement under Minnesota law. That means injured riders typically cannot access PIP benefits through their own motorcycle policy. However, if you have a household auto insurance policy, you may be able to claim PIP benefits through that policy. The rules here are fact-specific and require careful analysis. Getting this wrong early in a claim can have real consequences for what you’re able to recover.

Statute Of Limitations
