An Introduction To The City Of Eagan

Eagan is located south of Saint Paul in Dakota County and occupies the southeastern corner of the Twin Cities Metro area. As of 2022, the estimated population is 67,534.

Long before Eagan was established as the city we know today, it was home to the Black Dog Native American village. In 1860 Irish settlers came to the area, attracted by its fertile soil. Onions were the hot crop among the farmers of late-17th century Eagan, so much so that the city later became known as the “Onion Capital of the United States”.

Eagan’s landscape contains rolling hills, mature trees, and beautiful bodies of water. There are 56 parks, 1350 acres of parkland, and 161 miles of trails for residents and visitors.

Eagan City Hall is centrally located within the Eagan Municipal Center on Pilot Knob Road. The city’s public library, Wescott Library, is located nearby on Wescott Road.

The landscape, infrastructure, and community make Eagan a great place to visit, live, and work.

Twin Cities Premium Outlets

The Twin Cities Premium Outlets is an outdoor shopping center near Minnesota State Highway 13 and 77. It’s home to over 85 outlet stores where visitors can shop from brands like Nike, Coach, Polo Ralph Lauren, and more. Only a 10-minute drive from the Mall of America, this is a perfect stop for shoppers.

Bald Man Brewing Company

Across Minnesota State Highway 13 from the Twin Cities Premium Outlets lies Bald Man Brewing Company, a local craft brewery. This place has a lovely selection of beers on tap as well as other beverages, alcoholic and non-alcoholic alike. There are tasty food options from their kitchen and from food trucks that regularly visit. The brewery has live music, trivia, and lots of other events regularly.

Lebanon Hills Regional Park

With almost 2,000 acres of parkland, this park is the largest in the Dakota County Park system. The park is open year-round, with many trails, lakes, and activities for visitors to enjoy. 

Cascade Bay Water Park

This water park offers a zero-entry pool, a lazy river, various water slides, and reasonably priced concessions—an excellent place for summer fun with the whole family.

Caponi Art Park

This 60-acre park has miles of trails through rolling hills filled with art. Visitors can enjoy a sculpture garden, an outdoor amphitheater, and many fun events and educational experiences.

Vikings Training Camp And Vikings Museum

The Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center is the headquarters of the Minnesota Vikings and where the team holds its practices. Vikings fans can watch the team’s practices and visit the museum.

Emagine Movie Theater

This state-of-the-art entertainment center has an array of giant screens with 4K projectors, comfortable seating, enhanced concessions, a full-service bar, and even axe-throwing lanes.
